One of the best sites to start is the excellent Envirolink site which is a very smoothly presented database of environmental links. It contain teachers notes, statistics and organisation details. Be warned, however, it is a huge site and if you know what you are looking for, then one of the other links below may get you there quicker...

Greenpeacethe UK branch of this high profile campaigning organisation.

Encyclopedia of the Atmospheric Environmentexcellent information on acid rain, ozone layer, etc.

British Antarctic Surveya very topical area, particularly now that the Protection Treaty has finally been signed by all countries concerned with Antarctica. The site has a wide range of information, including a section for 'Schools and Students'.

World Conservation Monitoring Centrea UK based organisation which does as the name suggests - it checks what is going on. It is most useful for the databases on Forest Areas, on Protected Areas, etc. It includes some nice maps.

Waste Watcheverything you ever wanted to know and probably a few things that you would rather not know, about waste and recycling.

UK Environment Agencythe Environment Agency provides both facts and figures on a wide range of environmental topics.

UK Air Quality Archivethis site has tons of data and information on air pollution, including real-time data. Choose a location and see how bad pollution is in your area - scary stuff!
