This photo shows the view of the Statue of Liberty from it's base. The tablet which the Statue holds in her left hand reads "July 4, 1776", the day of America's independence from Britain. The viewing platform in the crown with it's 25 windows has been closed to the public since the 11th September 2001 attack on the World Trade Center in Manhattan. The height from the base to the torch is 151 feet (46.5 metres). To gain a better idea of the scale of the statue, the length of each hand is 16 feet (5 metres) and each fingernail is about the size of a typical textbook.
