Clue 1: For 5 points, Read the following quotes, which are all taken from a Geography textbook from several years ago. I want to know the year that the book was published. Scores will be awarded as follows: Within 5 years = 5 points, 6-10 years = 4 points, 11-15 years = 3 points, 16 - 20 years = 2 points and 21 - 25 years = 1 point. If you are more than 25 years out, then no points. Good luck!
a) "We have been flying for eight hours when we reach Rio De Janeiro, the capital of Brazil. As we descend to the airport we get a splendid view of the beautiful bay on which the great city stands."
b) "In about three and a half hours we land at Salisbury, the capital of the British colony of Southern Rhodesia, which we could have reached by rail from Capetown."
c) "On the outskirts of the village we see a herd of buffaloes. They are being watched by a brown-skinned boy, who cannot be more than seven years old. In India few of the peasant boys, and very few indeed of the girls go to school."
d) "It would have been more fun, perhaps, if we had landed at Accra, the capital of the Gold Coast. There the water is too shallow for steamers to get close to land, and so people have to be taken ashore in surf-boats, into which they are lowered from the ship in a kind of basket."
