Geography logo Revision Topic: Rivers Photo 11
When rivers flood, they cause a variety of damage. In this photo, a river has overflowed its banks and flooded an orchard. Even when the floodwater drains away, the field will be covered in a thick layer of alluvium (mud) which will make work difficult. If the field is underwater for a long time, the trees could be killed.
