Geography logo Revision Topic: Rivers Photo 8
This photo shows a section of river meander with a river cliff on the right-hand side and a gentle slip-off slope on the left-hand side. The stream is faster flowing on the outside and is undercutting the river bank and causing it to collapse. On the inside of the bend, water is flowing more slowly and depositing material. Large angular blocks can be seen in the stream and on the valley sides. These may have been weathered by freeze-thaw action and rolled down the valley side.
