You are standing on a large rock groyne looking W. towards the twin towers. The sea wall begins here again and extends for about 4 kms. beyond the Wantsum Channel to Minnis Bay. The sea wall close to the towers originally had wooden groynes in front of it, to slow the rate of longshore drift and thus retain the beach material. These, however, were in an advanced state of decay and in 1999, were being replaced by rip-rap and more rock groynes. Part of the damaged concrete sea wall has also been repaired. Picture 'b' shows a close-up of the rock groyne.
